LO5: Task 5 Evaluating the next steps of development of website.
From looking at all of the user test plans that I have received that have been no problems with my website. After using my website on a number of computers I have realised that the loading differs o different computers. On the Apple Mac's the website preformed very well and there were no problems with the website however, when I tested this on a windows computer there some performance issues. he loading time of some of the computers varied some o them being really slow. This may be down to the performance of the computer itself and if that is the case then I should change some of the features of the website so it can run all computers. One of the positive of my website is there is parallax scrolling, this means that the user doesn't have to navigation through several web pages and have to wait for them to load. One of the negatives of my website is that the because I have enabled the parallax scrolling it may take some time to get on the website. One of the improvements that I can make to the website is that the pages could all be the same size, some pages have more content than others so to fit it all in one section I have had to make the page bigger. To solve this I could create another page so that I can make them al the same. One of the other improvements that I could make is that I could have the hiveit logo animated, that would fit in with the theme of my website as all of the backgrounds that I have are live. The third improvement that I could make for my website is on the second page. The background for my second page is a video of bees flying around pollenating plants, whenever there is a change of scenery to video becomes distorted for a few seconds before changing back into HD. I could replace the video with another live background but it would need to be of something that is related to the theme of the website.

LO4: Test Plan.
A)
There are two ways in which you can navigate through the website and that is by clicking on the links on the header or by using the parallax scrolling. When you click on each of the links it take you to the desired webpage and the transitions from page to page is the parallax scrolling. I tested to parallax scrolling by scrolling up an down to each of the different webpages to see wether the contents of the next page will load with all of the transitions.
B)
To test the internal and external web links I clicked on each one using three different web browsers. The links did what I was expecting by opening up a new window the for each link, one of the things that may be a problem is that when you click on the Facebook web link it directs you to the Facebook login page instead of an actual bee community Facebook page.
C)
To test the page loading times I timed the time it takes from the moment I clicked on the link to the time it takes for the webpage to load. The webpage does load successfully and it isn't affected by different devices.
D)
The website does work on more than one web browser however the performance differs on some of the web browsers, on google chrome the website can take a while for it to load but once it has loaded it runs fine. When on safari it takes a while for all of the contents of the webpage to load but once it has loaded it runs smoothly. However when on Firefox there are not problems with the performance.
E)
All of the content on my website is related to the bees, all of the background that I have are of flowers that are bee friendly and this links up with one of the purposes of my website which is to get people to help the bee population. The colour of the text differs with the webpage as the backgrounds are different on each page and they are videos. The theme of the website stays consistent throughout the webpages.

LO3: Self assessment.
In this lesson I have looked a range of hover animations for the hyperlinks on my website, this will help me to improve my website. I have also been looking at the greenpeace wensite and how smooth their website runs.
LO3: Hover effects example
One of the features that I won't on my website is an animation, I want a animation to appear when the user hovers over a hyperlink to take them to another page. My plan is to have all of the hyperlinks pictures of beehives and when the courser moves over the image the animation will begin.

LO2: Legal and ethical.
For my website I will need:
If this is not possible get them from the internet, to avoid breaking any copyright laws I would have to ask them for permission to use their pictures for my website. For getting the interviews with people like the beekeepers I would need some proof of confirmation which allows me to do so, this can either be through a email or a signed document. The picture of the map which shows all of the affected areas can be created on Photoshop and all of the information on the bees can be obtained from the internet.
I want to get most of the materials for my website from Heely City Farm, this is because they are promoting bee-keeping. They have a small apiary on another site in Sheffield but it is private. So I would need permission from the owners from of the apiary if I can take some pictures there.
Launch Date:
From looking at my Gantt chart I would say that the launch date for my website would be in the week beginning on the 30th of November, that is when I take all of the feedback that I have been given from my teacher and my peers to improve my website. It will most likely be launched on the 4th of December.
Budgeting:
When creating this website there are many things that I need to consider in order to work out the budget for it. One of these things is finding a web host, this will allow me to have my domain name. These are some of the web hosting site i looked at and their prices:
People who use my website can sign up to it so they can receive updates and news alerts from the website. This would mean that I would have access to peoples personal information so I would need to apply a SSL certificate to the website to protect peoples information.
- Pictures of bees and beehives.
- A picture of a map of the UK showing where the most affected areas are.
- Information on how bees work and how they help the environment.
- Interviews from people who have worked with bees.

LO2: Potential Revenue.
To bring in some revenue I would need some ads on my website that is related to my campaign. I was thinking about having ads from Greenpeace UK or WWF. Be having some of these ads on my website my revenue would come from Cost per Click. The cost per click rate is based on what the advertiser is paying per click. If the cost GreeanPeace is paying for their ad is £2.00 per click, then that £2.00 goes to an ad network feed and then he feed displays £2 ad on your website. I wouldn't make the £2 off that click but I would make a portion of that.
The other way that I could create some revenue is if I get donations from other people who want the website to continue. Some of the money that is made would go the maintenance of the website and what is left goes to ward the total profit.
